2014-7-18: A lot suddenly happened in late 2013 and on. I will give some comments on this.
All of what happens shows a problem in the world, which is that "Psychopaths are on the rise". Not just in the boards of companies, but also in politics (and even in universities such as the university of Utrecht in NL, but I would guess they are in the boards of most universities and polluting those universities with their 'views' and the nutters they then appoint as 'special professors' and other stuff). But then that was always the case in politics. Psychopaths (or sociopaths, able to more or less blend in though I can see right through them easily) care only about themselves, are inept, and do huge damage in society. I think it's time to block such people from getting into such positions, and if psychologists are so inept that they can't determine whether someone is a psychopath, no problem, it's easily possible with a brain scan. Everyone in politics, local or national, and in boards of companies, should be checked for being a psychopath, and such people should be disallowed from ever being in such positions.
The statements by Putin and Lavrov of Russia are typical of what psychopaths do: Outright lies, always accusing other people of things they do not do but which they themselves do, and fairly simplistic reasoning. Everything they say has the implied meaning of "what I say is a lie". Once you know what to look for in statements then you can easily recognize this.
The USA has not done much better with its leaders and governments by the way. G.W.Bush for example is a typical sociopath, and one of the worst actually that I have ever seen, who had formed a government filled with the highest concentration of sociopaths I had ever seen (just about all of the people in high places that he chose). You can spot them from the ineptness, reversible non-arguments, not looking straight at you when answering, and more, such as a look on their face that tells you 'I am an anti social a-hole and I don't care about anyone but myself'. And inept he and his bunch of cronies were and still are, and the damage they have done is huge to the entire world, which is not just to destabilize the region around Iraq for bullshit-reasons, made up to suit the purposes of the neo-cons (interestingly 'con' has another meaning, namely con-man or con-artist, and 'new con-men' is actually what those people are), so supposedly to find weapons that Iraq was supposed to have.
In this situation, the airliner shot down on 17 July 2014 over Donetsk, or rather I should transliterate as 'Danyetsk'.:
My thoughts from 2014-7-18 (early, 03.00 in the night, after a long bike ride, I wrote this in an email to someone from/in Ukraine...):
I don't believe the Ukrainian army would shoot down simply any plane. I can imagine that the separatists would make such a mistake. I think this will have grave implications for the separatists and for Russia: The separatists will get demolished now. Russia has been complaining about economic sanctions, well, if it's shown that the weapons used were supplied by Russia (which I think is the case, ossibly via middle man but that's irrelevant), then sanctions will get stronger, much stronger, possibly even the Ukrainian army will get support from other armies and possibly Russia will be put under stress to give up Crimea unless they want to be totally isolated. However, whether politicians go that far is to be seen.
I heard of a Russian (not government) 'theory' that the Ukrainian army wanted to shoot down Putin's plane. This is moronic. That would mean outright war and Ukraine would lose a war with Russia. Russia said Ukraine shot it down: Nonsense, the Ukrainian army would not shoot Russian planes down (again, as that would be too dangerous and possibly lead to real war), or any others and they are not stupid enough to shoot down an airliner.
We will see...
2014-7-19: The rhetoric from Putin and his cronies is disgusting (comments in Russian media too, although in a dictatorship like Russia criticism of the government is not really possible, see Pussy Riot, this is still no excuse, they should work around it then). But even long before then they were this way. However at this point I will only talk about the recent comments by Russia/Putin:
Russia (or rather Putin) said the shooting down of the airliner wouldn't have happened if Ukraine didn't have military actions. This is just a moronic statement. Of course, in such situations, just like if you get robbed you have 2 choices: Defend yourself, or let the robber take your stuff. If you're Christ you will opt for option 2, if you are not Christ you will defend yourself and if that attacker then shoots, misses and kills someone else, then the person defending himself is guilty according to Putin. Do you agree? I think not. As always with psychopaths they accuse others of doing something or not doing something, when they would do what they complain about in the same situation. Would Russia let people go unchallenged if they want to split off from Russia? You can bet your ass they wouldn't, as is clear from behaviour of Russia in the past. Now let's reverse the argument: The plane wouldn't have been shot down if Putin hadn't invaded Crimea, as the 'rebels' do what they do because they also want to be part of Russia, annexation as in Crimea, and they feel that they could succeed because of how that went. Such people should emigrate to Russia if they want to be part of Russia.
2014-12-26: A few updates on what I've seen here and there:
2015-1-10: More and more the evidence shows what has been really the only logical possiblity:
http://nos.nl/artikel/2012560-mh17-nieuwe-aanwijzingen-voor-aanval-met-buk-raket.html
witness statements on noises, smoke plumes, and expert statements on handling the Buk system confirm what was really the only option: The separatists shot down the airliner, and they had help from Russia or at least people and possibly equipment from the Russian military. To me it was and still is quite simple: The separatists had nothing that needed to be shot down, and the Ukrainian military would not be stupid enough to shoot down an airliner anyway, the separatists with help (needed to operate such a system and to acquire it), would make a mistake because they are amateurs, and Russia, if they are not directly involved then they would have to know about the material and/or personnel helping Ukraine, therefore they are responsible.
