Pan hotel, centre of Sumy:
Taking a walk:
Kvas, I tried this later and didn't like it. Tasted a bit like beer to me, and I don't like beer:
Minibusses (Marshrutky), these are often preferred to trains. I took a minibus from Sumy to the Kiev trainstation which took 4 hours. It was fine, comfortable, even with a film being shown in the 2nd half of the ride, copied of course, with a note from the ripper still present ;-))) :
Market on sunday, close to the hotel:
Another walk, and back to the hotel:
Now a long walk to a park and beyond. What it showed is that everything in Ukraine is much more spacious than in NL, everywhere (except apartments are often small ;-)). I don't particularly like this cramped feeling in NL, and I also don't like that in NL it's just too neat, too manufactered, everything looks like it was made, manufactured, like a Bonsai tree perhaps, in the western provinces of NL (it's much nicer in esp. the province of Brabant):
My feeling after Sumy was: I love it! I love that it's not so neat, I love the nature here, I love many of the buildings. Flats are not so nice, but they are ugly everywhere. At least in Sumy there's lots of space and far more green than NL. Who cares about the bad roads?! Here in NL we have bad roads too that sometimes don't get fixed in many years, esp. in villages or towns.
