Bicycle phone mounts

Useful videos:

For the rest of this page: Whether something is available or not such as an induction module: The specifications below are as of 2024-8-5.

Mounts with available vibration dampers:

Vibrations can damage camera stabilisation systems on mobile phones, in particular with motorcycles but with bicycles it happens too. Therefore a non-rigid attachment is what I require for anywhere but the Netherlands. The first step was using a silicone mount in Poland and the movement of the phone while riding on cobble stones in Wroclaw (Poland) showed that it worked. After that I started looking for other options.

For a mount with damper there is the choice of Quiklox, SP connect, Quadlock, Mous, series Q, and the fakes on aliexpress of SP connect and Quadlock. Perhaps Peak design's damping is good enough, add that to the list?

Wireless charging, while riding:

The point of wireless charging is that that works while it rains and you can forget to plug in the charging cable which caused me to not charge the phone for long sections after taking some pictures on my rides in Ukraine. When the mount is also for wireless charging you always charge automatically when you put the phone back onto the mount. Downside is lower efficiency compared to charging with a cable.

For a mount with available damper + induction charger there are just 2 options as of 2024-7-20: Quadlock and SP connect.

Problems that were mentioned in videos/on websites or that I experienced:

SP connect: mount can get stuck when not properly rotated, need to use a tool or coin to rotate it into the initial position.

Quadlock: In videos and my own experience: Ease of use: It is a hassle to put the phone onto the mount while riding, which is needed when using the phone to make pictures. I often had to stop to get the phone back on. With Quiklox this is much easier.

Quicklox: I used it since summer 2024: The mount uses a rotating section and I experienced a few times that it got into the wrong position when taking off the phone. You then need to push down the lock mechanism, rotate the lower section so that it lines up with the upper section, then you can install the phone again.
