B&M Briq S dynamo headlamp

  • Someone asked me about the B&M Briq headlamp in a comment in response to one of my videos on youtube in early 2024. I then went through all current beamshots that B&M had on their website at the time, of which I made a video that I put on youtube, and the Briq was the only one that looked decent. Brightness is stated to be 70 lux (lux rating determines how far you can see with it) but despite my previous requirement (of 80 lux or more), I ordered one, tested it for a while in the Netherlands, then took it back to Ukraine from NL in June/July to UA and tried it there most of all. My impressions from use in NL were confirmed by my tests in Ukraine, especially in and around Kremenchuk (riding to/from Svitlovodsk, Gorishni plavni (old name: Komsomolsk), etc.).
  • Finally B&M made a bicycle lamp with proper beam again!

In use it was better than the Axendo 40 (same beam as the Philips Saferide 40), better than the Saferide 60 neutral white (which has about 5000K light I estimate). The beam colour is about 5000K (rought estimate), slightly greenish, and better than most lights out there. Did I do a comparison with the Roxim D6 in NL? Hmm, check.

It is inferior to the Philips Saferide 80 and the Igaro C1, both of which put out much more light and a wider beam.
